As an artist at Valve Software, Ricardo has been working on Left 4 Dead and its sequel, and is currently creating characters for the recently announced DOTA 2. Despite his obvious strengths in creating realistic human models, the undead seem to keep cropping up in Ricardo's work. Several years ago, he created several menacing zombie pirates for a Kellogg's Choco Krispis commercial. In between, he worked on a variety of films, commercials and video games. With almost a decade in design experience, Ricardo stepped down from the helm of a  successful graphic design studio in Miami to study computer animation at Full Sail University. Already holding bachelor's degrees in both art history and graphic design from the University of Miami, he melded his new 3d knowledge with his 2d background to work on a variety of projects, including cinematics for Activision's Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Midway's L.A. Rush and commercials for Kellogg's and Namco's Soul Calibur 3, Ricardo worked on his first actual in-game characters at Activision for Spiderman 3. He then designed, modeled and textured characters for Naughty Dog on Uncharted and Uncharted 2. While living in Los Angeles, Ricardo taught modeling at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects. He has also appeared at GDC and led workshops on both character and environmental design.

JEFF UNAY | 03.16.2011

Jeff Unay's professional art career began designing scratch-off lottery tickets and multimedia for the Louisiana Lottery Corp. That experience helped spawn a strong passion for computer graphics. His 2d work soon developed in to 3d work, where he would later be found working on creating creatures for the game "Quake 4". Jeff's artistic inspirations have always been deeply rooted in the designs found in the films he grew up watching repeatedly, especially "Conan the Barbarian", "Clash of the Titans" and "Aliens". Today, he's living out his childhood dreams of developing characters and creatures for film, television and video games. Jeff is currently a Freelance Artist/Author and Facial Lead on "Avatar" at Weta Digital. And as a big believer in sharing his knowledge and experiences with others in the computer graphics community, in his spare time Jeff continues to author books, podcasts, presentations, teach courses and mentor students.
